Description
These RDX KARA focus mitts have a curved target, a Palm Dome grip area and an adjustable Quick-EZ hook-and-loop strap. They are designed for pad drills with a partner who has been shown how to hold the targets.
Grip and construction
RDX specifies a Maya Hide outer, ventilation in the hand area and EVA-Lution and Polygonal Fusion padding. The shaped palm area gives the holder something to grip, while the strap adjusts around the hand opening.
Check the fit on the person who will hold the mitts. They should remain secure as the holder changes target position, without the hand sliding around inside.
Using focus mitts with a partner
Ask a coach to demonstrate the drill, target positions and suitable pace before practising together. Begin with familiar combinations so the boxer and holder can coordinate their timing.
Focus mitts are smaller targets than a body shield or kick pad, so choose drills intended for them. Check the retailer’s pack contents before ordering, along with the colour and model selected.
